The Counterbalance Forklift is one of the most common types of lift truck in the UK They are the workhorse of many businesses including those in Warehousing, Agriculture and Construction.
Training on the safe and efficient use of Counterbalance Forklifts is essential and is recommended within the HSE's Approved Code of Practice L117 - Rider Operated Lift Trucks.

Which Counterbalance Forklifts do you train on?
B1 - Counterbalance Forklift up to 5000kg
B2 - Counterbalance Forklift 5001kg - 15000kg
B3 - Counterbalance Forklift 15001kg and over
J1 - Rough Terrain Masted Forklift
What will I get at the end of the course?
Every trainee will receive a nationally recognised and accredited certificate of basic training from either ITSSAR (Independent Training Standards Scheme and Register) or BRITTOp (British Register of Industrial Truck Trainers and Operators). We also issue optional photo ID cards with each course.
Do I need a forklift licence to operate a forklift in the UK?
No, but you must have received adequate training on the machine you wish to use.
This is a common misconception, there is no such thing as a Forklift Licence in the UK. Training providers will offer a certificate of basic training or a operators I.D card, but never a Forklift Licence.
